A beautiful day to pop across the Fens and deliver the long awaited heifers to Mrs @fenlander . A belated Birthday and Christmas present and whilst R recovered sufficiently from his injuries before Christmas

For me it was clear that N was absolutely delighted and I was pleased for her but what made my day was seeing R walking across the yard to help

Has the drought hit yields much I know nothing about cotton
Yeah - big time
A lot didn't get planted ( mine included ), a lot has been ploughed out ( including my neighbours dryland cotton ) & yes, dryland yields will be down a lot.

For irrigated cotton - a lot of people didn't have water, or ran out of water, so they will be affected as well

Pigs are twits sometimes. Especially when they're large boars that act a bit too keen when you step in to rectify, meaning i had to leave it pouring out to go and get a pig board.

My girl came back from overwintering else where after our 2 last veal calves left in autumn, we bought a steer as a friend for her for the time being. They broke out of their small pen/house within 24 hours of being here and so i've tried to barricade them in the field they ended up in (the steer mooing at next door's dexter heifers )
She's nicely pregnant though and it appears that she was covered by the last Guernsey bull 'calf' before he went to the abattoir in sept/oct, so she'll be dropping a Guernsey/Jersey calf.
These weaners were under the caravan at 6 am this morning and woke the little one an hour early :banghead:
