Smart looking bunch. Nice even size. (y)(y)

We had a bit of a nightmare weaning day today.

One of the sows broke off from the group and went walkies in the fog. I got her in the trailer, but she hopped out to go for more walkies.

Then I got stuck in the RTV with a couple of first parity sows in the trailer.

Then this happened:
857122

857128

So I had a bit of welding to do. Which meant replacing the wire feed potentiometer on the welder. So I got to do some welding *and* some soldering. Yay!

Then with our first load of weaners on board, this happened:
857124

(Dodgy hub nut finally gave up the ghost. Or rather, my dodgy weld on the dodgy hub nut finally gave up the ghost.)

In the recovery operation, a repair to the RTV tyre also gave up the ghost.

So, with unserviceable wheels on the trailer and the towing vehicle, weaning was completed with the trailer ratchet-strapped to the pallet tines on the front of the Manitou - a new innovation for us. (No photos, sense of humour had started to fail by this point and we were burning up all the daylight.)

We made a new rule today. No one is ever allowed to say "we'll be weaned by lunchtime" ever again!

Too many of them sometimes !!!!
Amen to that!

It's the third time we've had a bearing go on that trailer since Christmas. Have some new stub axles to go on, but with so much stuff breaking, and so many things getting stuck, welding the new axles has never made it to the top of the to-do list. Welding up the crack on the drawbar has been on the list since 5 Oct! Just really struggling to get ahead at the moment.
