Yes 9 out of 10 pits is covered with sand in my area. I guess it's a no go if you have rocks in the soil. If I want to open the pit up again I only put some sand on the edges of the sheet, would be a dick of a job to take this amount of sand off every timeThat’s a different way of covering a pit, is that common over there, I’ve seen people cover it in dung but never soil. I take it you don’t open it again to add a 3rd cut,
