Picked up some chicken and chips this evening after a trip out. They were advertising battered pigs in blankets. In addition, battered sprouts and battered mince pies! There won’t be any pigs in blankets made this year. All pork supplies will need to be reprimanded and diverted to scotch egg production for the front line.
Grants shortly available for pig and egg producers too I hear!
There’s a war on don’t you know!

How many steps away does it work best...?
I think that the collective noun for goldfinch is a Charm, you can see why, lovely. Not much of a photo but this is my stewardship bird food, and these little guys are all gold finches. I've never seen so many, it's a real flock there must be 100 altogether. Very pleasing to see them and see the work making a differenceView attachment 924473
How many years have you been doing this feed , how long has it taken to amas that many birds or did they just turn up the first year you sowed itNot much of a photo but this is my stewardship bird food, and these little guys are all gold finches. This is only the second year, last year I didn't notice many but this year you can't miss them, they spend all day in it. I don't expect I have increased the population much yet, more likely attracted all the local ones. But hopefully now they've found a good source of food and cover they will do even better. There's a couple of local shoots as well and despite what anyone says they benefit lots of different birds, probably why there's a good amount of song birds about alreadyHow many years have you been doing this feed , how long has it taken to amas that many or do the just turn up the first year you sowed it
Be careful and take your time with it. My neighbour got fed up with it talking so long to dry that he set te burner temperature the same as for wheat. Which totally de-natured the Rape and ruined it. Cost him an absolute fortune!Been drying for two hours, organic rape View attachment 924489still above limit
You will have all the natives complaining that theres no birds in their gardens and the farmers are killing them all......This is only the second year, last year I didn't notice many but this year you can't miss them, they spend all day in it.
