Just started on the inside equipment, spent yesterday setting all the stuff into the house, getting 20' lengths of pipe through a 10' door on your own can test the patience. View attachment 985365
Dog seems happy with the progress.
We did one here last year I put them on a bale trailer and backed it in, it gets a bit tedious unloading it all after a while
I like how you've raised the packing room are shed mine is at the same level as the rest of the shed it would be better a touch higher

Guy Watson put a good post on Riverfords Instagram page yesterday, explaining what a difficult year it’s been for British veg growers this year. I knew it wasn’t just us, but it was reassuring to read what he said, and even more so that he was telling their tens of thousands of customers.

I think that it has been a particularly difficult year for anyone in Britain (at least the Southern half) who relies on sunshine.

Never thought of a bale trailer tbh but we probably don't have enough room at the back of the house to manoeuvre it in anyway. I thought it looked funny having the packing room roof higher but you soon get used to it. Any advice for a novice?

I'm still a novice I'm on my first flock, make sure you get them all up at nights to start off with it'll make it easier in the long run, I haven't spent thousands on fancy Pro biotics just get the water quality right, there's loads of people out there who are trying to sell you stuff but they shouldn't need much to start off with. It's well worth keeping on top of vaccines and wormers have you got autoflush in the shed it makes it easier.
It's very different to beef and sheep farming but in a lot of ways it's more enjoyable

Anyone I've been talking to says that about getting them off the floor at night! Also do not let anyone unnecessary into the house due to biosecurity. One man even said to put the egg store away from the main house so that the lorry driver didn't have to go into the house.
We have a contract with a local egg packer and the whole shed was specced by them so not sure about the auto flush.
