Today at work

Has anyone else had that sinking feeling when you plan your day at breakfast and the wife says “I think the drain in the holiday let is blocked”?
She wasn’t wrong:

Had that day last week.
Started with leaking slurry hose that neighbour had borrowed and covered in pig sh!t, then when we got going new fitting blew off, covered in cow sh1t, then in evening sil rings to say drains blocked at their rental property, can I sort it, human sh1t.

Toilet paper should be rationed, solve lots of problems!

Friday again and wow, what a week it has been! Everything seems to have been at 100 MPH. Still, on the plus side, better to be 100 MPH than dragging your feet trying to find something to do I say.

Cool Hand Luke and King Kev started the week sorting out some wet spots near Chipping Campden. Bit of a buggeration to start with on this job as existing drains were on site but finding them was a bit of an issue as I understand they did not quite match the drawings. Still they pressed on and got it all sorted in the end, even if they did have to dye the ditch a shade of yellow to make sure it was all flowing freely.

We have finally started on the HS2 drainage works for Mr David Jones. Our new 15/15 drainer was loaded yesterday amongst a flurry of orange overalls all running around loading pipe and prepping headwalls. Boss Man Chris gently drove her on Big Wheels with Dilly Bob directing. Thankfully his caution, knowing his left from his right, hand signals and gently, gently approach made sure she was loaded and safe. The job itself is going well, new drainer is racing the 6” land drain in with no problems and early reports are that the f##&%g bar is doing what it is meant to do!! We are praying the weather holds out for us to get finished as quick as we can. The land has laid wet for a while now and be nice to see it back to it’s former glory after the upheaval the land has received over the past few seasons.

Dilly Bob has been flat out putting the final touches on the new 15/15, caught him on the top the other day with a buffing brush on a grinder working up a shine on one of the steel plates. I did try to tell him that if he cleared out the biscuit crumbs from his pockets first so they didn’t fly all over the place it may be a little less dusty and
the custard out of the custard creams would not smear. . . .he never listens!!

Been a dam fine week lads, thanks for all the hard work and the laughs along the way. Have a brilliant weekend and see you all Monday to do it all again. Till then, stay safe and stay smiley :)

Last load of veg delivered for the 21/22 season. Red cabbage, spring greens and purple sprouting broccoli, so nice and colourful. Not been a good year, my mantra for the last 8 months has been “next year will be better”.

You could try pigs - then next year will probably be worse.

Btw that lady knows how to use a ratchet strap too, wow.

That job was £4 k
Remove bins, and I keep all value in scrap, and bins,
On the down side, I supplied, 12 m telehandler, counter balance forklift, 14 ton 360, and hire in for a week 3 ton 360 with a pecker, and obviously labour, of 10 days,
Operating costs, add up, yes I make money, not many others are daft enough to undertake the work,
So all in all, works out at approx £750 day
