Well God Save the Queen! What a weekend that was!! Hope you all had fun.
Strange ol’ week this one, the lads have been hard at it, finishing off the pump station install, mowing the grass for next door before they set up for the rail event going on in a couple of weeks, catching the sun in Duxford at Cereals 2022, carrying out drain surveys for an upcoming sewage treatment plant installation, emergency sewer pipe repair at Stratford Racecourse, bit of ear washing wheat and spraying winter beans. . . it’s all going on!
King Kev and Paul took the 8t 360 with mower head, tractor and topper to our next-door neighbours. A last-minute call asking if we could get the grass and bunds tidied up? Was a bit of a rush as the weather gods were against us, luckily we got a fair bit done before they decided to open the heavens.
Whilst they were on this, Luke went to trace sewer drains for an upcoming sewage treatment plant installation. Bit of a nightmare on the pipework with this one as originally it was assumed that several properties were connected to one ageing treatment plant. Initial investigations show that only about half of them are, the others go to another plant!! Still, it gave him the opportunity to play with drain dye!
Cool Hand Luke, King Kev and Paul cracked on with a pump station install. There had been a delay in the pump station arriving but that gave us the time to put the pipework in a week ago. Just a simple job of excavating for the pump station, concrete for the base and surround, connect up the pipework, finish off and tidy up. I know I have said this may times before, but our lads do a tidy job.
Boss Man Chris and King Kev are currently at Stratford Racecourse exploring why one of their sewers is blocked. We were told that a tent peg (from and event there last weekend) had pierced the pipe. Armed with a 3t excavator and drain rods they began the excavations only to find that in the area of the alleged tent peg event, someone had covered the sewer pipe with concrete and in the words of Boss Man Chris, found a “secret manhole chamber”. Further investigations are definitely going to be required here and we want to meet the person who managed to pierce 8 inches of concrete with a wooden marquee peg!!
Paul managed to dodge the showers this week to get some spraying done. Have to admit, he did throw me a little when he said he has been ear washing winter wheat, the images of him with a bar of soap, flannel and bucket of water in the middle of a field sprang to mind. Just glad he showed me the photos!!
Boss Man Chris and the lads went to Cereals 2022 yesterday for a day out. Good to support the NAAC and LDCA who put on talks and displays at their stand. I understand that it was bigger than last year and reports back are all positive as well as the burnt faces showing that it was warm day. Well done to all who had displays, machines and who gave talks. Big thanks to Jill Hewitt and her team at the NAAC for all the hard work that goes into sorting this out.
Dilly Bob did nothing but moan about having to go to Cereals, 3 days of whittering about not being able to take biscuits with him, a lot of walking, they better have biscuits on site etc. Reports when they got back yesterday all said that his attitude changed when he bumped into his more famous cousin though; the Michelin Man! Apparently, he was so star struck that he didn’t have the foresight to ask for a selfie with the man but he was still gushing over meeting his family idol this morning whilst munching through a packet of chocolate digestives. . . obviously making up for yesterday!
Been a great week lads, thank you all for the hard work and laughs along the way. Have a dam fine weekend and we will see you all Monday for another go. ‘Till then, stay safe and stay smiley.

When we done some I measured the distance of the first few and the others were cockon same distance all the way , no Friday afternoon attitude when the workers put the old clay pipes in !
