Two years of calves, one cow.

As this cow is out of sync with the bulk of the herd, and the older calf has had an unknown nerve ailment since it was young, stunting it’s growth and limiting it’s mobility, it was left to run with her on rough grazing all winter.

The other day she gave birth to the little heifer calf, so it’s time the big man moves on and stops stealing the colostrum.

Started the week with more harvesting.

Need to put a dribble of oil on the bunker floor chains every now and then. The easy way is to get someone to sit on the seat and hold the joystick to keep the floor moving while I work the oil can.

And today went round and tidied up the heaps of stones we left when destoning.

One round with new combine and we find they’d forgotten to put the window in the tank and a bolt on the hatch for the auger.However still some green heads so try again Monday.
