SCORCHIO!! What a week, been gloriously hot, we even had a wee drop of warm rain but I for one am loving this weather. Although I did feel for the tarmac contractors who were doing the road outside our office on Monday and Tuesday. That, I may tell you was warm!
Monday saw all the lads out near Warwick with our 10/12 sports field trencher carrying out some work for Farm Services. We like to stay friendly in the drainage game and this showed when we were asked by Rob Burtonshaw if we could help him with a small project as he and his team are currently tied up on several large contracts elsewhere and this work was very time constrained. The job itself went really well with Farm Services supplying all the materials and us supplying the machines and labour. The conditions were nigh on perfect, the soil dug well, and we must have done something right as he asked if we could help on another small project just down the road. Thanks Rob, we were happy to be of service.
Boss Man Chris has been pushing mud and stone near Toddington. A lovely little job for the D5 which he started last week. The car park he was asked to help create and level has been finished as is ready for use.
We had a call Tuesday to help some local growers fix their irrigation pipe near Stratford upon Avon. Cool Hand Luke was dispatched with the EF welding equipment to help with the problem. When he got there the client had already exposed the damaged pipe and was ready with a multitude of fittings. Obviously, they wanted it repaired as quickly as possible, the biggest problem we had was trying to get the coupler to cool after welding. Cool Hand Luke said that he had to stand guard over it and had himself on repeat saying, “No, not yet it hasn’t cooled!” The weather didn’t help, and it took a lot longer than usual!
It seems that harvest has come early for some this year, no early reports on yields yet but no reports of foul language and tears either, which is what we don’t want. DillyBob is back from his sabbatical and just in time to as the big yellow beast is in for its pre-harvest tickle.
On about DillyBob and his sabbatical, all that fuss for a sore throat! As we pointed out to him yesterday it doesn’t seem that bad now with the amount of biscuits he is managing to get down him, he didn’t even stop to dunk any. Guess he is making up for his biscuit free week!! Still good to have the old fella back and back to his normal self.
Been a great week lads, thanks for the graft and the giggles, even the M & S giggles!! Auntie is forecasting a dam fine weekend so have a dam fine one and we will see you Monday. Till then, stay safe and stay smiley and mind that there sun stuff.
