Today NOT at work

I spent a few hours fishing yesterday evening after dropping off Mrs YA at a friends for a girly night in .

Well if it doesn’t work out , apparently ‘we’ are in the market for a caravan 🤣
I shouldn't bother, put your money into some weeks in Portugal, or something.
Bought one last year, and not got away in it yet. It has been down to the brook twice for kids sleepouts and barbecues, but I suspect we would have better not bothered buying a depreciating asset that requires insurance, maintenance and cleaning.

How much money a night typically in France tor a tourer, at a place like that?
Can you get a 6.2m tandem axle and Discovery etc, over there without costing an arm and leg?
We camped on the same pitch as my in-laws had their motorhome. The pitch was 180m2 and included was patio furniture, BBQ, fridge, water, electric and use of all the pools, jacuzzis, entertainment etc. Was €55 per night.
Travel down is expensive with fuel costs but talking to others there the overnight ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe doesn't charge extra for caravans.
Our ferry was just short of £500 for a large SUV, we went overnight from Portsmouth to St-Malo and then fast trimaran from Cherbourg to Poole. Would have been cheaper to do the same return route but timings didn't fit.

It’s more work than pleasure. 6+ ag shows / year in a tent are wearing a bit thin . Our tent is more like a canvas gin palace now but the thought of a good nights sleep without the fear of the roof blowing off is quite appealing even to me , someone who puts caravan drivers in the category as cyclists!

This one is on my list.

As is owning my own tank. I narrowly missed out on and AMX-13 at auction 18 months ago. Something else will crop up, I'm sure!
It was a good weekend, we had booked it for Christmas present 2019 after being to the museum during our 2019 holiday down there (and then the world went to sh!t :) )
Left just after school Friday, stopped near Andover Friday night and then the show Sat and left 1pm this afternoon and 6hrs back. Full access to the museum and then all the talks and shows as well

I fired a fireworks display at Bovington a few years ago for a passing out ball. The CO’s son was one of those passing out if I remember correctly. Bearing in mind it’s a tank training camp a few things stick in my mind.
When asking what sort of display they’d like they said we don’t care, just make it loud.
As for the firing site I was told I could fire anywhere apart from towards a particular building. When I asked why I was told that was the munitions store.
They insisted on giving me and my 2 crew the same 3 course meal that they were all having. As we went through the entrance foyer in the main house, there was an ice sculpture of an army tank with a hollow barrel, through which they were running vodka.
Overall it was a really good evening!

Ah but that would mean 2 vehicles both towing trailers to get there. You need a horsebox type thing, cows in the back, living in the front. Even know where there's a local one advertised.....
