Today's biggest tractor price difference

John Deere average rise since Dec 2015 is 30 % in the uk . If they carry on this year at same rate it will be 50% in 3 years there or there about and they aren't the only ones . Uk built trailers are roughly up 10% + in a calendar year
1.4191 EUR to GBP on 1/12/15
1.137 EUR to GBP on 1/12/17

So the currency has lost about 20% in the same period. What’s the reason for the extra 10%?

Sounds like charity to me

Fair enough. My decision was that for the sake of a few hundred pounds, my business received continued good service and prompt attention when required. Since I, in effect bought the tractors from the local dealer, then they have a commitment to that machine if there were to be problems.

I don't believe I would ever receive bad service from any of the dealers, but I know I am within my rights to shout at them if ever required. Also, there are very few independents in this area.

We said the same in 86 when the 3000 series masseys came out !

Yes, and over 30 years later they are still working away and still have support for service and parts. Like everything else they have had issues. Like most other similar things, detail engineering has improved the basic design and reliability substantially with each new generation [apart from the ones immediately following the 3000 series, sadly, but that's way back in the past, mid 1990's]

We have a 3000 and all the electric bits and bobs still work fine apart from sometimes it don't like to change to low box. Not to bad considering its 30 years old

I'm sure that newer models that are reasonably well looked after will last even longer. My Same Titan, with early 1990's Italian electronics, is still working well. So is my 1997 New Holland with Range Command, which is slightly less sophisticated. There are plenty of newer tractors of this type that have crossed well over 10,000 hours. Some locally here with up to 15,000 hours.

This type of more intensive use and high hours was almost unheard of in the 1960's and 70's. Same for cars, which needed major surgery before 50,000 miles and regular parts replacement throughout their relatively short lives.

Best one a manufacturer told me was the price of steel has gone up..
6t of steel went from £100/t to £120/t

Ooh £120 increase per tractor turned into 4%
