The coils that take the soil out are worn. Anyone do replacement ones? Asked a local dealer and he said to wrap them with blue rope :rolleyes:
Necessity is the mother of invention !! Peil used to do all that stuff but since the closed i cant think of any other potato dealer . Paddy Callan in Ardee used to deal Tong back in the day but chances of him having them are probably slim . WBD in lusk might be worth a shot, the probably would be able to tell you where the replacement parts can be got if the dont have them .

thank you for tips, whats the diffrent betwine scott s cleaner and tongs?
Don't know sorry. No experience of either. We stopped growing ten years ago. Might be worth speaking to them.

If you are mechanically minded you might be able to modify a multisep off a scrap grimme harvester? Would it be possible to shafts down to correct length?

@Papa smurf might know?

Can’t really be of any help. Everything here is straight into boxes off the harvester. Do run a tong grader but with built in box tippers and the only cleaning element is on the conveyor from the first set of screen decks to box filler. And all that is is a highly technical gap of 15mm ish between the end of the conveyor and a driven rubber coated roller rotating the same way as the conveyor so the crop flows over without being pinched etc basically just there to take out a bit of fine soil. We aim to get everything clean off the harvester. As for modifying something most things are possible if you put you mind to it.
