Too late for OSR?

I’d leave it and see. You might be surprised! Less CSFB if it now comes cooler which is a bonus.

Don’t spend any money on it until Christmas, then take a view in the spring. If it still looks rubbish then go spring barley.

Some of our worst looking rape crops have been the best historically.

You are right to a extent but anything going spring crops on this heavy stuff has to be set up in autumn to weather down over winter

And just to help, the 24mm that weatherpro were forecasting for tomorrow is now down to 4.4mm.

Weather pro has got to be the worst weather app about. I’ve deleted it this morning as I’ve had enough. They changed their forecasts as it’s happening I’ve noticed.

I think hard to beat the bbc.

Broadcast some more on it?
I've done so broadcasting seed onto thin patches with a slug pellet applicator on a quad bike a few times in the past. The secret is to broadcast enough seed, which might be at least 4 times the original seed rate.

The patches are usually caused by the original seed have germinated, but then having died of thirst. So we try everything not to allow that situation to arise. Using a cultivation system that doesn't let moisture evaporate too much ahead of drilling and/or drilling ahead of a rain.

I'd leave it, we mauled ours in on the 14th September last year, looked crap compared to all the neighbours but still yielded 1.9 tonnes/acre. All been sold so no estimates.
My best crop was drilled on 19th last year. Leave it still plenty of heat. Also redrilled a lot last year with spring oilseed and it done 1.4t/ac dsv lumen!

BBC is now less accurate than the met office app on online forecast as the bbc use meteo group
Met office app is shite as well.
It can not even get weather right 24 hrs in advance.
plenty of times given heavy rain all day for next day then by morning its down to a light shower, then nothing.

probably same muppets who said said a few weeks ago that we were in for a Indian summer, but now saying heavy snow and coldest winter for long time.

Had a walk round today. Lot of bare ground. Lot of stuff just through but been hammered by beetles.
Worst rape I ever had this stage.
Been in 3 weeks. Trouble now we had massive storm after months if nothing and the dust all gone together and now drying in sun and wind and capping.

All had pre em as well ...

Same here, re-drilled stuff being hammered, with young plants just emerging after the recent rain, FB everywhere even during my walk this morning, had thought (hoped) that frosts would knock them back but seems not (had first frost this morning) Am going to spray this evening (as much as I dont wish to) and see if it gets going this week, the sun is still strong although night time temps are down. If it doesnt come through this week, I will spray the lot off and bang in WW. A total waste of time and money, an awful lot has been written off in this already according to my agronomist, he was just on his way to a client this morning to tell him his entire 350 acres are a write off. Fortunately no pre emm applied here, just some fert and some bought seed.

In the same position here, but not a re drill, can just see 1 field in rows, but badly holed, the Clearfield looks very thin and getting hammered, was thinking of running over it all with the left over conventional variety to try and add to numbers, but not sure its a worthwhile plan, another 2 fields were drilled just before the rain and have yet to emerge. I have been anti insecticides, drilling late er last year worked well, but must confess to getting close to getting the sprayer out :(

Iam pulling up another 20ha today which has been buggered by flea beetle. Was going to spray it but it has been to windy. Just got 30ha left which was redrill on Friday due to lack of moisture. Will be checking that every night to see about spraying

I think the FB have changed tack. Now more active during the day, and less so at night now it is cooler. They did the same last year. Could find plenty yesterday afternoon, but nothing last night. Might be worth thinking about if you intend spraying.

Just been looking and couldn't find any, just a lot of damage

Gutted, last year was the first time in 4 years I'd managed to get it to Christmas, and the first year of not using Insecticides, so was thinking I might have it sorted, but this year there does't seem to be the beneficials crawling around :scratchhead:

Just sprayed 10ac again most of mine now is going to be OK, just got one Field which is suffering from a lack of moisture and is just not moving.
Just too cold at night now and early morning.
