Sorry all. I mean the normal shiny chrome sockets as the impact ones are too thick. can get 3/8ths drive but not seemingly 1/2 inch. Have normal af sockets but they are too short for a particular job .

Could anyone suggest a reasonably priced tool cabinet/chest type box with tools included, of reasonable quality. No need for snap-on, facom quality, but not silver line either. Tia. Would be handy to have castors.

Don’t get a tools included one. They put in lots of small cheap tools you'll never need to bump the numbers up, so it looks good in the advert ‘1000 piece toolkit’ etc etc but you won’t use half of them.

Halfords Pro toolboxes are very good. Buy when they’re on offer and you get 3 nearly for the price of 1. Then buy the tools you need as and when.

I’m of the same opinion about pre stacked tool boxes, but it’s for a specific purpose.

I bought a set of Teng with 280 pieces including box for £500+ vat, allow another £100 for some bigger spanner’s and a breaker bar and all good!

I would class silverline as some ot the worse quality tools on the market at present

Same here I bought Silverline Socket/Spanner set after a load of Halfords Pro got nicked... It was cheap and was in a hurry pee Poor Quality.. No teeth in the ratchets after a short time and the rest of it has been relegated to the "Smash On" bucket in the van set.

Stanley are mid range brand, strange thing is, they own facom, britool, Mac tools and others. Pretty sure draper, sealey come out the same factory badges accordingly, same as sip.

Interesting.
How does one find out such information , and / or where they are actually made ?

Other half’s family supply tools to mines in Botswana and South Africa and are Stanley agents so have access to all the brands under that banner. Pretty sure Hilti black and decker and dewalt are under the same ownership but might be wrong on that.
