What would be a good tig for welding alloy check plate ?
You’ll need an AC/DC tig if you want to weld alloys, there’s a big price jump from a standard DC only tig. What would be a good tig for welding alloy check plate ?
unless ur doing very tricky or delicate work I reckon a spool gun is far quicker way to workYou’ll need an AC/DC tig if you want to weld alloys, there’s a big price jump from a standard DC only tig.
I’ve got an R-Tech 201 AC/DC tig with water cooled lance, it’s done around 8 years now and been faultless.
You need quite a few amps once you start getting into the thicker plate, I wouldn’t want any less than a 170A machine. Not enough amps and progress will be steady which causes excessive heat to build up in the work piece.
That would be mig not tig though like the op asked about. I’ve always found that I’ve had mixed results welding aluminium with mig.unless ur doing very tricky or delicate work I reckon a spool gun is far quicker way to work
Would a 50 litre air compressor be suitable for that Aldi/Lidl Plasma Cutter?Just after leaving the Lidl in Antrim and there’s at least 12 plasma cutters available possibly more. I bought one last year and despite my best efforts I haven’t killed it yet.
