Face book sale pages have a lot of chests full of new tools for sale claim to be German .
Has any body bought them?

My brother bought one a couple of years ago and they are okay apart from the ratchet spanners which didn't last long. Have seen them as low as €350 over here but not bitten the bullet yet

German sounding names you mean I guess, kraftmüller, stahlkraft, kreator, you name it. It's just cheapo stuff but does the job perfectly fine if you don't use it all day every day. I bought a box for €300, quite happy with it. The ratchets are the weakest point as said, just buy one from a half decent brand. The ratcheting spanners just aren't to be used in anger but are handy in some cases.
Expect the worst, things can only go up then.

Could just imagine a meeting in China people trying to think of an American sounding name, so they plump for Jefferson.

Image is everything , we buy a good brand then look at the label PRC Peoples Republic of China . Maybe it is built to a higher spec.
