Top hat filters in spray line

Absolutely agree with this, with top hat filters removing gunk just before the nozzle you have no idea what you are applying at each nozzle. Inline pressure filters are the only way imo
They would have to be fairly cacked up before that was entirely true, surely.
Jug test says they are not a problem unless neglected.

At Nroso points day recently, instructor told us that Glyphosate was originally going to be a cleaning agent, which may explain why it dislodges crap in spray lines so well.
Allman used to have very good tophat filters that were made entirely out of stainless, dont know if they can still be got. Much better than the Hardi plastic and stainless ones that break off at the base.
Your instructor was talking crap. He may have been thinking of paraquat which certainly came from a detergent trial

Google says he was right.
1961: Glyphosate was patented in the U.S. as a Descaling and Chelating Agent by the Stauffer Chemical Co. Due to its strong metal chelating properties, glyphosate was initially used as a descaling agent to clean out calcium and other mineral deposits in pipes and boilers of residential and commercial hot water systems.

When using guardian air jets which way do you make the angle nozzle face? Forward or backwards? Or does it matter

The original idea was to have them all facing backwards to hit the back of the leaf or ear. The fans won’t hit each other if the nozzle bodies are angled slightly which will be built into their design.

Alternating forwards and backwards helps drift as the air displaced by the spray pattern can pass between them. I would argue that you don't need this unless it's really windy though it all depends on what you want to hit, in what canopy and what conditions.

Alternate, 1 forwards 1 backwards, I think. Just ordered some BFS bubble jets and getting rid of Guardian Air.
My 04 flat fans are about worn out and I was half considering some 04 GA’s but but I must admit, I’m not that impressed with my 02 GA’s. They have a real tendency to part block at nothing!

Did you manage to get a good deal on the bubble jets? I’ve had a google and best price I can find is £2.85
