Topcon AGI-4 upgrade to RTK

Hi all,

i own a Fendt 718 SCR which came wit a built in Topcon AGI-4 GPS , on EGNOS . I've wanted to upgrade it to RTK and i found a radio module
that i bought. Now when i opened the reciever, i noted that the IMU (the gyro module) was not installed , even do i have gyro readings on my
varioterminal (heading , etc...) they must come from the reciever itself.

Now, when i installed the radio module in the reciever and booted it up, i didn't get the RTK option in the dropown, only the signals that i had
before where there (Autonome, Egnos, Omnistar ) .

Question is, does the reciever only work on RTK when the gyro is installed? And can i get a gyro ?

thanks allot for any advice !

No unlocks on the Topcon AGI-4 (or one can say that the plugin HW includes the unlock). You do need the gyro and the modem for RTK. I've never tried it without the gyro, perhaps the menus are disabled until all necessary components are present.

I have done just this recently, plug in gyro and radio are both required.

Can you clarify, the gyro is certainly required but have you tested with the modem only to see if the RTK option appears in the menus (centimetre accuracy) or only when both are installed?

EDIT: a good find that gyro as an individual sales item. The site had several kits of gyro plus modem too. I just hate these sales sites how people categorise their sales items. If you search under the precision farming products, you will not find any of these modems or gyros. Without the link from Spencer I did not manage to find the gyro at all. Browsing all items at the miscellaneous category did not work for pages after 10, except the last one 17 (firefox). I guess they sell well enough even if they only reach less than 10% of interested customers.

PS. I tried to reach a German company selling Novatel at the AGCO Trader. Did not reach the specific sales person, did not get any response from the company head of sales...

I never tried without the gyro as the manual says it’s required and I found both for sale second hand on above site. And once I was into the dome in cab roof never thought to try only radio. I did however end up buying another radio as I then went down the mobile base station route to avoid annual subscriptions and the channel frequency didnt match the base I found 🤦 Now looking at making a mobile/fixed base out of it with externals aerials..
So I have a spare radio if anyone’s interested?

I know what you mean about the listings but good deals often take some finding... 😉

Hey All,

i recieved my module and installed them both. I could setup my RTK settings and all works, but i can't get 3G network, it always stays on 2G and Roaming.
I'm pretty sure my internet provider settings are correct, does the topcon agi-4 even support 3G ? Because i can get the RTK data in, but it takes a long time
before i get a 2cm accuracy.
