Topcon X30/AGCO C3000 COM2 serial port wiring harness

Our AGCO C3000 wiring harness does not include wiring for the COM2 port for GPS/NMEA output. My intention was to save a couple of hundred Euros by building the cable from parts.

I failed to find any information about the pin-out for the screen connectors. Someone must have built their own cable, I'd be glad if this knowledge was shared. Since I only need the serial output, I could simply measure the pin, switch output on and off and see which pin follows the settings but knowing the pin assignment in advance would make things easier.

I assume the plug housing is an AMP 3-1437290-8 part, a 26 pin connector with two mechanical keys, could anyone confirm?

Or perhaps there is another ready made harness at a lower cost, an after market part or a spare part under some other brand name?

A pity none of this is described in the manual (C3000 or X30).

Right. I believe the harness would have had the COM2 port also if it had come from our Topcon dealer.

Unfortunately I never got any quote from our Topcon dealer, gave him more than a month to find the price but it was not sufficient. Had no choice but to choose the AGCO branded screen and receiver (the offer for a 5 year warranty for the tractor was closing). I have to say that I'm really pleased with the price even if there was no competition.

A parts price update here. I bought the necessary hardware to build these serial data/NMEA cables to connect the Amazone GPS Switch to the AGCO C3000 screen.

I got three cables at about 65 Euro total cost. The lowest offer for a genuine spare part I got was from my AGCO dealer, 230 € per cable, 690 Euros for three. Spent an hour to build three cables. I wish an hour at the field would pay equally well.

Made it with some help from this forum! Thank you.

Hello, can you send the pinout of the screen? I need NMEA input for a topcon X25 display I think it's the same as the x30. thanks

Is it NMEA input to a Topcon X25 screen or NMEA output from the screen to some other device?

The C3000 screen/X30 second connector pins for COM2 are:
1 RX
2 TX
3 RS232 gnd
8 RTS
9 CTS

If it is NMEA to some other device, you should not need more than ground and TX.

Thanks.

Yes, this is the connector housing. Remember to purchase pins too.

Which tasks is the display handling? Auto-steer too? I've never tried the external GNSS source for auto-steer, please report how it goes.

no, I'm only going to use it for isobus with section control, for automatic steering I'm using FJDYNAMICS, it works very well, I want to send the nmea data from FJDynamics to the topcon screen

You all sound quite clued on the C3000/x30 screen.

Is there a way to get the work trigger to be switched from the tractor? I don't currently have a work trigger I just leave it painting but it would be useful if it would come on and off as required. Also if there is a way what cables etc would I need? Tia
