It went in as well as it could considering the time of year and the thick thatch of dying grass

These were taken 27/12/17, so far surviving the Wireworm and the excessive rain for this area. [emoji106]

Not sure there's to much to gain by rolling due to the thickness of the thatch and its in approx 70mm deep but happy to be educated on that, but definitely want to get some Activa S on asap :)

Good thinking, not an avid roller, so only do it when I have to, if I had GPS then I would be keener ;) but yes, that would be a good idea, most that have seen it in the flesh seem to think its pretty thick, but can never have to many tillers in this situation (y)

.....and its KWS Barrel drilled at 210kg/ha with JD 750a :)

That is looking quite promising, is all 200 acres drilled with Barrel?

Thanks, its certainly an interesting/stressful journey, quite a lot hanging on these next 3-4 years getting it back into an arable rotation.

Just 100 acres drilled, wanted to start with a 5 year rotation so some Pea's or Beans & S Barley going in to spread the risk, plus something else, but not decided what as yet :)

Next year will be WW-WB-OSR-WW-Pea's if all goes to plan :D

I’d be more worried about the wireworm next year, they’ve probably got enough to eat without having too much affect on your wheat. If you go for a second cereal don’t forget the Austral. Other than that beans might be a a useful option.

W Barley will follow half the W Wheat, so will get Austral, W Wheat will follow the Beans or Pea's and whatever goes on the 46 acre block I haven't decided on as yet, but will be getting Austral for the next 2-3 years just to do all I can (y)

they have been cut with a rotary trencher and the spoil thrown approx 20m across the field. Other than employing a person with a bulldozer just wondering what other suggestions may be forthcoming ?

Plough in from each side and then level cross ways? If not good man on a 360 or bull dozer?
