The Farming vote is quite important to the political parties.
During an election there is always a huge poster campaign . They need the Farming vote for poster sites if nothing else .
Traditionally Hfds countryside is plastered with 'vote Conservative' posters ' will be interesting to see how many go up at next election .

Well, I'm sure those hundred thousand widely scattered votes will have them very worried indeed... :banghead:
Think you might find those hundred thousand plus farming related votes are disproportionately based in seats that the Tories can very easily lose to the Liberals such as in large parts of the West Country where farmers & associated workers make up a much larger part of the community ;)

Obviously, or I wouldn't have commented upon it. The 'Liberals' - who aren't - are not a credible party of government, and anyone reckoning Labour is can be confirmed as barking. No doubt the Tories need to pull their fingers out in re rural affairs, but this is laughable.

I would very surprised if the Conservatives haven’t lost all of their majority, and some, at the next GE. I would be equally surprised if Labour managed to pull off a Landslide victory.
I expect to see something of a small resurgence by the Lib Dem’s, the traditional home of disenfranchised Tory voters. Not anywhere near enough to give them power, other than as a ‘partner’ (and surely they would have little appetite to cosy up to the Conservatives again).

I agree, but their coalition with the Conservatives sent them to the wilderness after the smell wore off. The same will happen of course, should they get into bed with Labour, as it's always the junior partner that gets the blame.
I cant see them doing a deal with either of them ever again. Surely they cant be that stupid.....................................................or can they.:scratchhead:

What you will also find is the smaller West Country farms are exactly the ones that will be hit hardest by this governments stupid ELMS plans & their distress will reverberate around the counties at the Tories expence

I hear a lot of hate from farmers and others around here for Boris and his government more so than ever before, wouldn't surprise me if the liberals took back the local seat here that they held for many years

A lot of conservative minded people are very upset with un-conservative behaviour from the Conservatives and looking for credible alternatives. It does not change how they view the world. The Libs may have to swap the battle wheel barrow for a battle mini bus

No, and the wider the 'community' the less chance of coherence. Consider how many are in Scottish, Welsh and NI constituencies where there wouldn't be a hope - or possibility - of a Tory MP anyway; a quick calculation makes that about 30% of them. The remaining 70k, even if just across the approx 300 'rural' constituencies, work out at about 230 votes each.

Looking at the most marginal constituencies in the UK as a whole, only the top 18 would be affected by this number (assuming a straight switch to nearest rival), only six are 'rural', only two of those are in England, and only one is currently in Tory hands (High Peak).

So, a hung parliament aside, what you you suggest doesn't seem very plausible. (y)
