Amazes me that nurse crying about food - if she is a busy nurse why isnt her freezers stocked up she would of known weeks ago about this even before most of us (I had info from a hospital manager)? In general the brits are not prepared. No winter planning whatsoever - look at the Beast from the East when folk were freaking about milk. I had friends who had nothing in the house.....Surely people buy more than 1 bag of frozen peas? You can freeze a lot of milk nothing in the freezer is wasted is it? Financially I have had to plough into my holiday savings to buy a bulk of food its a matter of choice. I chose to be a bit more prepared however, I didnt buy enough frozen veg. Luckily I have a veg box arriving on Tuesday. I am also surprised that many older people havent stock piled much more food.

Amazes me that you know so much about the nurse, and her life, she may me single living in a small flat, and a small or no freezer, you just don't know till you have walked in their shoes,
people not prepared you say, and beast from the east you say,
When the beast from the east was on, farmers lambing sheep where complaing that they had to order a week in advance for sheep feed, yet lambing was coming and they knew when they put the Tup in when they were due, so why did they not order plenty in, 1 farmer told me ordering 7 days in advance was not good, and was going elsewhere, next week I was back, and said thought you were going elsewhere, he replied no mills are taking on new customers due to demand,
And many farmers live hand to mouth with regards animal food, don't blame the nurse for not having any food,
You say you have ploughed in your holiday money to buy bulk food to stock up,
Your no better than the shoppers buying bulk at the minute,
So really don't knock the nurse, or any others, we all need to do our bit through this crisis, and buy considerately

In 2018 541,568people died in UK an average of 1483 people per day. In 2018 Lombardy in Italy the epicentre of the virus there were 99500 deaths over 40,000 more than the next region which was Lazio with around 57000 deaths in Italy in 2018 over 600000 people died. I am not making light of this virus but people will always die. Due to advances in medicines etc people are living much longer than the previous three score and ten. I suggest if you are in a demographic thats at risk you keep yourself safe.
Yes people will always die but the health service here is usually capable of saving many younger lives during a normal year.. at the current rate of progression in 2 weeks there will be very little capacity to treat car accident victims, heart attack and stroke victims, women having birthing difficulties, cancer patients and all the other minor aliments for which we take treatment for granted. Younger people are much less likely to need treatment if when they are infected, but many do and some will certainly die without treatment. Once the health service is overwhelmed thousands of normally healthy people will die, everyone who is not a victim themselves will eventually have a relative or friend who will die as a result of this crisis. It is not just those susceptible to the virus who will die because of the virus, until people understand this then we are all in trouble.

I am very aware of that and as I have stated those who are greatest risk from this should be the ones isolating themselves. The level of hysteria amongst the general public is helping no one.

Just sat in the supermarket car park whilst my other half has gone in to get some things and doing what we can to stay out of the shop with the kids. People watching and 2 80+ people have just come out of the shop. Can’t help some people.

English second home and mobile home owners are obviously converging on West Wales in droves. New Quay seems to be almost as occupied as in Summer.

Just yesterday I saw a group of middle to late middle aged aged walkers, between 15 and 20 of them, walking together on the coastal path in a close group. All madness!

From the BBC

Chief executive Emyr Williams said: "The area has been overwhelmed with visitors.

"More worrying still is the significant crowding on the mountain summits and trails making it impossible to maintain effective social distancing."

The authority is calling on the prime minister and first minister to provide "stronger measures on unnecessary travel and social distancing, to ensure that we do not see a repeat of yesterday's scenes across Snowdonia".

The park said: "If no further steps are taken we will need to take drastic measures to protect the communities and health services in north Wales, such as shutting down car parks and trails."

Boris Johnson has warned the NHS could be "overwhelmed" if people do not act to slow the "accelerating" spread of coronavirus, as he urged the UK not to visit loved ones on Mother's Day.

And Wales' Health Minister Vaughan Gething tweeted to say that he and First Minister Mark Drakeford were "actively considering our legal powers to directly intervene" due to concerns about the influx of visitors to Wales.
The Welsh might repeat the action they took in the 70s and 80s.

Last week I would have agreed with you. Looking around you soon see there actually isn't enough hysteria amongst some groups! Still too many at risk people not being responsible so we all need to be more responsible. The number of cases presenting to hospital is still rising far to rapidly. If myself or a member of my family get infected this week or worse still next week... and we are unlucky enough to need hospital treatment, we would be entering the health service at a point when it may not have capacity to provide the level of care needed to keep us alive. 15% of older people need treatment! If only 1% of 30-40 year olds need treatment, statistically it is still very much like playing me playing a game of Russian roulette with the other dads from our kids school whilst my wife plays a second game with all the mums... and its not a big school!
