Total Lockdown?

I don't think anyone's really disagreeing with what you say but that has nothing to do with the lockdowns in the UK.
Hospitals are full with sick people despite lockdown measures and its getting worse so those in power have to do something more to reduce the numbers.
It's really that simple, it's gone on so long people are overthinking it.
Having people dying at home, on the streets or in hospital hallways in the UK is simply not acceptable.

As I've asked you several times what else can they do?
You can't abolish death, dying of old age is not tragic.
It's very tragic and sad for families that they cannot celebrate the lives of loved ones by having proper funerals.
My mother in law is going to die soon, she has lived a good life and is loved by many, interfering in the process of mourning her and burying her is completely wrong imo
All cause deaths, age adjusted mortality are not in any way reflective of a killer pandemic and wouldn't be if deaths were triple that which we have seen so far.
How many people do you think we have "saved" by lockdowns/restrictions?
we have caused the deaths of plenty that is certain...you can't shut down preventative cancer and disease care without casualties
Or cause mental trauma to millions by upturning their lives and making them scared to go to hospital without all sorts of harmful effects.

Many of those 20 - 30% in hospital with covid acquired it there , having gone there for something else and plenty of those are asymptomatic.
They were already filling a bed and are often not discharged for fear of sending them hope to infect elderly spouse etc.
So add to numbers in hospital with covid.
If someone is symptomatic we tell them to wear a mask and they can still go out!!!
Or come to a testing centre come inside a tent and take their mask off.

I can recommend ASDA Grantham 11pm.

Hardly a soul in the barn of a place apart from one chap managing the self checkout terminal and two or three shelf stackers.

Bemuses me why I see so many cars outside supermarkets at what would have been pre covid a conventional time of day - when the coffee shop would have been open. Hey ho.

Best wishes.

Yep
I am going either early or late nowadays

I don't disagree with any of that but none of it is relevant, hospital admissions are increasing and there's nowhere to put people, so the government has to tighten the lockdown to decrease the number getting sick.
Last summer restrictions were relaxed, because hospitals were coping.
When patient numbers start to go down, they'll lift the restrictions. The hope being that soon everyone will have had it or been vaccinated and herd immunity will be reached. The virus will still be there and will still kill people, just at a level medical services can cope with.

But they're not wanting people to have herd immunity according to the medical advice given on the TV last night. They are banking on the vaccine.

Also, in relation to the ExCel nightingale hospital Why is it still being reported as available to open / on standby - what is going on here?

Can someone tell me what the actual point of the nightingale hospitals was? As I was under the impression they were built to relieve pressure on hospitals. Where's the thousands of volunteers who were going to run them. They could very easily be run by the army medical Corp with transport to and from run by army logistics. Not like there's any massive wars going on anywhere.

You use the vaccine to get to herd immunity, impossible without it especially if any immunity only lasts 6-12 months, which would require a yearly vaccine jab.

Wife and daughter both find shopping a nightmare experience now, what with masks, shepherding and people's attitudes (rudeness). Supermarkets allow them to get a week's supply quickly then get out and back home ASAP.
To be fair don’t see this issue in Cheltenham. The sheds are being responsible- the issue is the idiots inside shopping. Many have non idea about distancing I’m afraid. Still we have a new shed coming on steam soon so that’ll be another way to reduce footfall in the existing shops.

It's just not the case that hospitals can't treat the sick,
People are being hospitalised because they are scared, I know of several,. They are given a bed for a while and maybe a bit of oxygen then sent home. They are not being saved whilst there.
Plus 5000 -. 6000 people in hospital having caught it there, some of whom are just positive tests with no symptoms who can't be sent home because "they mustn't spread it"

Everyone believes it's a deadly virus and acts accordingly. This causes a vicious circle of hospitalisation and infection.
I understand people being scared and doctors being scared ..they think it's a deadlier killer virus.. the numbers clearly show otherwise.
If I got ill with covid and believed it was a deadly virus I'd want to be in hospital.

These are old people dying of old age, give them some dignity.
Stop the slaughter of innocents by the restrictions.
Back the recovery group of MPs, back anyone who can see through this nonsense.

If everyone in hospital has covid then everyone that dies in hospital will die after a positive test. 250000 die in hospital each year so omg 250000 covid deaths.

Forget all Boris’s total bull sh!t, he‘s well aware of what’s happening & has had to prepare for a total lockdown at the end of June for well over a month unless we get very lucky, there’s only one stupid person we should be blaming!
