Blackview every time.

I've a BV9800pro and it's been abused relentlessly (by accident) more than any other phone I've ever had and it's still going strong.

Falls out my top pocket on to concrete most days, has been run over twice, dropped in puddles and accidentally smashed it between two rocks one day. It flew out my pocket as I threw a stone on to the stone fork and landed on a stone just as the one I threw crashed on top of it. Put on a new screen protector and it was fine.
Runs the latest Android software, battery lasts two days and has a thermal imaging camera which is surprisingly handy.

It is a bit of a lump due to the battery and the exterior armour but I bought another smaller version for my Dad (BV4900 pro) and it's equally as good.
Brother had a Doogee but that particular model was prone to freezing so he swapped it for an AGM.
The AGM is a bit more svelte than the Blackview but isn't as rugged. The Blackview is practically bombproof

Another vote for blackview, I'm on my second. Last one (a bv5800 I think) lasted 2 years and was unfortunate enough to fall and crack the screen on a pointy bit of concrete. It still survived probably 5x longer than any normal phone before it. I would have replaced with the same again if I could find one, ended up with bv6600 instead, a little bigger and heavier but works well, and has a good battery. Only think I kind of wish I did was get the bigger internal memory version, but I could just put in a bigger additional memory card. Would recommend though if you want a tough phone

My Mrs is savage rough on phones and I was just looking earlier at bv4900 does it have WiFi calling? I have a galaxy xcover4 that's served me well for a year or two. Not sure if it works be tough enough for her though.

Samsung 👌. Dropped mine on the headland, ran over it when turning and drilled over it while doing headland before I found it , bit bent but not a scratch

I sourced my brother a Nokia 2.1 phone last year for around £100 iirc. It packed up completely in the last couple of days and will not switch on at all now. So I have now sourced a Motorola G8 for £200 or a bit less, which has a massive battery and a good reputation for the previous models. It may be a bit too big but when it arrives, which should be Wednesday, we'll see whether it needs some kind of case. Not something too bulky.
How did you/your brother get on with the Motorola?

My brother. I’m into the Apple ecosystem.

He loves it and from being apathetic about all previous phones, he is very keen indeed about the Moto. The battery life and bang for the buck is phenomenal compared to my iPhone. Having said that, my daughter gets on similarly well with her mid-range Samsung. The firmware and available apps are. of course, very similar as they both run Android operating systems.

I’m not saying that Android is better than Apple. They are about equal in what they do overall with Apple only having one brand and a limited number of models compared to Android that has a phenomenal range of brands at all price points. If I were buying an Android today it would probably be a Moto. If anything Moto have too many overlapping models that confuses the prospective purchaser as to what exactly differs them.

I started my mobile phone journey with a Motorola C520 back in the late 90s and stayed with them for over a decade. I do regret missing out on the Nokias of that era, which would have had a superior battery standby time by days. Part of me is very tempted to go back to Motorola to see what they're like in modern times for old times sake.

I like the idea of a tough phone but it's finding one with decent ram/memory.

On an S8 at the moment that's on its last legs... Cracked Screen bleed growing but functions and does all thats needed so that S8 Spec forwards is what's required.

At the moment it's a A52s on the radar for my own use and I'll add a Moto G30 for business to turn off at 5pm for peace.

I am confused to say the least ! I have been looking around on the net for phones and prices ..... there are some variables to say the least , then you read the reviews omg the tales put on trust pilot from the states about Blackview phones !
And not being tight but how much do you spend ? i think i must be to tight :scratchhead:
so i have messaged mantis tech to see if they can sort me out .

Around £250, £350 maximum, gives you a fantastic choice of mid-range cameras that do everything a £1000 phone will do, mostly as well for the less demanding user and about 85% [in my opinion] as good for a quarter to a third of the price. The more you spend the less ‘better’ you get for every Pound spent.
