I have a Blackview 9800pro
Its a bit heavy, but hasn`t died or been smashed yet, also has a thermal imaging camera. Good for checking for hot bearings at the end of the day on machinery

Any update on this?
Still happy?

Anyone else have experience of the ulefone? Or comparison to Cat phones?

I remain happy with my Armor 7, long battery life, works well as a phone for speaking on, seems to run the common apps I use just fine. It is quite large and heavy which other people comment on but I don't particularly notice. Only small downside I see is no upgrade to later versions of Android, just security patches for Android 10.

We provide our key man with a phone and after a couple of Samsung Xcovers which didn't seem especially robust we bought him a CAT S42 which seems to be holding up well.

Looking at buying this phone. Are you still pleased with it? Does it still run on android 9 and if so does that cause any problems with apps?

Yes still happy with it
Bit of a lump, but that doesn`t bother me
Runs on android 9, the only issue I have is it won`t give an audible notification when I receive a text. Been through all the settings i can find but no joy. It used to work ok
Camera maybe not as good as some others, but still good
Thermal camera is excellent, not that I use it often

Got a blackview 4900 on ebay a few weeks ago for £80.
About an inch taller than previous phone and double the weight.
Easier to read and type on.
I'll be looking for another for 'spare' because that's the way I am but I don't expect to need it.

While I'm here.
I also treated myself to 'air by aftershokz' hands free kit. Little alice band type thing that puts vibrations infront of your ear so your ears are not blocked or covered.
Only disadvantage is that it does not tell me who is calling.

Time to replace my CAT s41, what are peoples opinions on the s42 or s62?
The s41 has done me well, roughly 4years old now and starting to get very slow, struggling to find signal and not supporting updates.

So the debate is really what to replace it with?

I have never owned a smart phone and resisted getting a mobile till about ten years ago. I get about 3 months use out of flip phones before killing them. I usually look for the ones with the smallest screens because they seem to last longest. For various reasons I think I should buy one but do they last?

This is my current haul of dead phones

I’ve got my iPhone in a lifeproof case and it is brilliant! It spent half an hour in the slurry lagoon last week and didn’t effect it at all , rinsed it off in a trough and was good to go again 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
