Weight too far to the back?

Hitch height?

Tyres under inflated?

You're an engineer so I'm sure you've taken these in to account

How long is the trailer? How much room do they have ?

Ours would do exactly that on an ifor tri axle, usually one tyre had lost its shape. Ran them on 100 psi. Moved onto the wheel outside now.

Short wheelbase landrover on offroad tyres at quite a low pressure with plenty of flex in them? Do you have an adjustable height hitch on the back? Is the rear suspension squatting much under the weight? (may need new or uprated springs) My disco 4 can be bad for being pushed around and that's on road tyres with air suspension and a lot more weight than a defender but 50mph is normally comfortable.

Done it once without a partition coz my father insisted “they won’t move because its full”, never again. They can move & even had to put the truck into 4wd to pull away on slightly uphill junctions a couple of times.

When loaded your trailer should sit an inch higher at the front than the rear. Adjust your hitch height to suit, if its ridiculously high empty sort out the landy springs.

Ours developed an unnerving weave when towing so we put some new bushes on the rods that connect the rear axle to the chassis. Bit extra wind in landy tyres also helped as well as running the trailer front tyres 2psi less than the rear tyres.
