I think if you have broken leaf spring a dealer will fit both sides. Had this on a pickup and a trailer. Presume if one gone likely other side is likely too

I had one go on the old Ranger but it was two years before the second went. No idea when the first broke and it was found at MOT after I had washed it well and not noticed.
I was driving it unladen on the farmyard when the second went. I heard that one ping.

On that evidence there is absolutely no need to change them in pairs. They seem to pop at random intervals.

I was constantly snapping them on a Direhatsu pick up that was provided for me, the thing used to be serviced every 3 months and would need a new spring at least every other service.

I've had leaf springs break for fun on previous pickups, had to check them once a week as you didn't now if they had snapped as my pickups sit very low all the time with all the fencing tools in.
One of my mates has a new ford ranger and both leaf springs broke and the axle was falling off and crabbing down the road!

Just done both our rear springs on a hilux . Only one was broken but seemed sensible to do both to keep it level .. Got the complete outfit - hangers an' all from Milners 4 wheel drive at Matlock . Cheap as chips too . 01629 734411. NB.. I have no connection to them apart from being a very satisfied customer .
Highly recommend Milners, (y)
