Have you got a mate with a newer hilux/disco/dmax/ranger/navara (3.5t candidates I can think off, minus defender) who would share the driving? Still a bit iffy re:distance and tacho, but if everything else is shipshape, you'd need to pretty unlucky.

I believe that hilux has a towing weight of 2500kg. Although I’m not sure of the max train weight. EG if the trailer weights 1000kg and the load is 1500kg that would take you to your max weight.

Try one if the big Hauliers... Likes of Nolans with a flatbed there will be others.

We used to get stuff shipped by the flip flops simply to cover the boat home or to cover the cost of placing the truck within the UK for the bigger paying job.

Try Mark Watson at Watson Machinery or someone else who makes loads up round the country. A couple of years ago we got a trailed topper from Inverness down to Suffolk for £250 through someone else. Do think it's easier for us as people want to get lorries east to take straw back

I think the days of cheap back loads are done now. Prices are so competitive now. I don't think haulage is dear

Imagine driving all that way in a horrid hilux!
Yes. That doesn't fill me with joy.

Would rather take my wifes x5.

I've access to a Range rover sport too, but it doesn't have a towbar fitted. Cost of fitting one would cover haulage.

Would just be more clean cut if I could see it, transfer money and take it home. A lot of trust transferring money before uplift. Possible damage loading and transporting.

Worst idea is taking the wife’s motor. My wife won’t let me put a tow bar on the ML
Range Rover will spin a shell and 1k haulage bill will become 14k haulage bill
