But will it have the vw permanent four wheel drive surely one of the main advantages over a standard pickup once power climbs over say 180hp?
Depends on how many changes they're willing to make to the base product. Isn't Ford 4wd a decent one? I don't know that much of pickups, but what i've caught on is that there is a similar situation going on with Ranger --> Amarok which was going on with Nissan and Mercedes (turning Navaras to X class).

Just had my hilux delivery date, ordered end April….. delivery 22 March 2023…. Dealer was thinking 13 months. Wouldn’t be surprised to see that shorten as interest rates rise …. Interesting times !!
Good luck with that one, I’m still waiting for my hilux ordered in August 2021!!! Still no 2023 delivery date

Just the thread I was looking for. I ordered in November 21. I was told initially delivery would be July 22 which was delayed until December 22. That was delayed until February 23 and now that’s been delayed until April 23. I was told around 12 months delivery and that’s me now on 15 months and there’s no way I believe it will arrive in April.

Don’t no why all new pickups can’t be driven on the road in 4wd surely it makes a lot of sense

even my old L200 can be driven everywhere in 4wd with its super select box
Nought worse trying to turn in the yard in 4wd and it’s jumping about on full lock. Most of these double cabs are very old fashioned basic kit with a tarted up cab and price to match…..you can put lipstick on a pig.

Whilst true the old agricultural drivetrains are at least reliable. They are a lot of 4wd vehicles out there which rely on electrics and clutch packs and it'll be interesting to see how they fare long term especially if they are dragging 3.5 ton around behind them.

Very true, maybe why my Amarok doesn’t tow the full 3500kg legally, but in every other area it outperforms my Dmax by some margin but early days.

I driven my D max a couple of times quite a distance home or to wherever and thought sh!t I’m in four wheel drive and hadn’t noticed on the road and it comes out just the same as normal.but I agree they should be permanent all wheel drive.they need a third diff.

Amarok mite not be legal towing 3500kg but I bet it can handle it as good as a DMax or any other pickup.VW probably don’t need to get into that stressful market.I expect the new VW/ford pickup can legally tow 3500kg

It can pull a house tbh and is very stable at speed with our gamic fully loaded. I noticed in other countries it is rated for 3500kg just not here.

L200 turns better in 4wd mines never out of it

then push it into 4wd with diffslocked for off road
