Looking at both of these at moment(3to4 years old).
Used to diesel and open to gearbox options.
Has anyone any experiences either positive or
negative of the above vehicles?

Check the pedal position on the Rav. The last gen ones had pedals offset to the left of center and gave my wife real back ache driving with twisted legs on longer journeys. I hated it from the off.

Have you replaced it with another Volvo?
No tbh we needed/wanted something bigger to tow a big twin axle caravan ( Volvo was effing scary on a windy night with it’s softish suspension set up ) so went to a discovery 5 as we thought it would be more capable on a cattle trailer than the new xc90 if our pickup was ever off the road as it tows considerably more than the volvo.

Saw a newish xc90 on a tri axle at the local market.
It looked nice but I did wonder .
Edit
This is just for kids and dogs have plenty of towing capacity. :)

I think they only pull something like 2.7t but inside it’s all minimalist styling and no buttons just touchscreen which I didn’t like, also no off-road ability so no option to shepherd in it for example if the pickup is on another job, but cheaper than a disco and no doubt more reliable

I’d say Volvo trumps Toyota on quality .
I would agree but there is a difference between quality and reliability where I would imagine Toyota would win. You also have to remember that complex cars such as SUV’s are always going to be more unreliable than a basic saloon as there are simply more things to go wrong.

The xc60 is just beautifully appointed, many many small touches, like the stitching on the centre console, the embossed belt latches etc and the central touch screen works really well, albeit abit slow to fire up from cold start, whereas the Toyota is abit Japanese dull with too much scratchy plastics. Sit in both, youll soon see.

I know of a Volvo xc60. biggest heap they've ever bought, eats brakes/tyres every 10,000 miles
electrical issues all the time, only done 55000 miles now, going to be sold soon, can't afford to keep it because of running costs, put me right off ever getting one.

Interesting I’ve got 64 plate xc60 78k on clock, it’s been a joy to own and drive. Serviced once a year. During young children years we had a V40 again lovely car. I would have another Volvo although wife is keen on a RR Evoke.
