This is what happens when it all goes wrong. Literally pear-shaped due to different ground conditions to usual and, shall we say, sub-optimal.

Nobody physically hurt in above accident but very much shaken and shocked. So be careful out there.

Put front and rear wheels out as far as practical, especially if going along banks sideways.
Be very, very, very careful turning on banks especially with a 3 point linkage mounted sprayer / fertiliser spreader when loaded, you can flick it over in a second
As said by others slick, greasy grass is particularly dangerous to drive on,on banks.

Be carefull running in slopes on single wheels. Tyres sidewalls are under immense stress and can easily come off the rim.

Slightly off topic.
I am sure there was a TFF member whose avatar pic was a Track Marshall hitched to rotary muck spreader. Whether he used it because of the steep banks or wet ground I do not know, but it was a unique set up.👍

Front brakes are available on many brands and unless they have abs are of little if any significance compared to braking through the drivetrain.
With 4wd/drivetrain braking, what happens when the tractor slides away and one front wheel starts spinning backwards? I guess this probably doesn't happen anymore since (I assume) most modern tractors are equipped with a working front LSD.

You take off like a bottle-rocket.... been there, got the T shirt.
If the old 7495 I used to operate had a front LSD it certainly didn't prevent that happening

That's my point. Proper front brakes will save you every time, 4wd braking is rubbish by comparison.
Almost every time!
I mean, nothing is foolproof.

However on numerous occasions I've had the front wheel spinning backwards with the Fusion giving us a shove.. how that's "of little if any significance" compared to having the front wheels braked at the hub, or having the diff lock control lock up both differentials, is quite a surprise to me after being in that situation many times .

I soon learnt to take the varios out of harvester mode and into stick mode, to reduce the likelihood of it breaking free in the first place, but big 600s on the front were the main "fault", too wide to really bite. Would have been a different machine on 480s.

A co-worker managed to put a Fusion upside-down and blow the front tyre off the rim when the 7495 let go on him & the baler brakes locked up, he got a fright that day

I used to have a pasquali ergo alpine tractor, bit like the carraro mentioned above.

65hp, reverse drive, wheel weights etc. Theoretically great, but all I can say is if you find one for sale dont buy it!

You wont turn it over, but you will learn to enjoy fixing it. Never been happier than when it left the farm!
