Get something with a decent PTO clutch my wee Nash 785 has a new PTO clutch every 500-1000hrs we have also upgraded parts of the PTO driveline to that of latee 4230 type tractors A 6000 Deere, 856 Nash, and something with a creeper box too especially with hesstons or and silage as we do, maybe a Same or Deutz.

Ps cheap 2wd for this job are thin on the gtound

I don't know how many hp the dB is but we used to run ours on a NH which was 75ish and was ok once you got it running, it was more the fact that PTO used to lump in slightly. Now running it on a JD 6210 which is 90hp and difference is night and day. Can run it in economy PTO which makes it quieter around the yard and keeps diesel usage down. I think this is about the ideal size for the machine really

Run ours on a t6180 I know it's over kill but it's available in the winter when the orthers are busy feeding.use to have it on a ford 6610 ok but we had to make sure the rads were blown out regularly or it would boil after the 2 bale

Make sure you get one with windows that shut. I used to do it with an old ih 685 with no window or door the dust near killed me. Also I don’t think hp is so much of an issue as oil flow. Went from the 685 to mf 3065 difference was night and day. I’ve now got a mf 5445 which is about the same but it has air con and a shuttle. All 2wd

How often do you clean oil cooler?

Run a Ford 7840 on our KV 853.
Usually run in 1000 pto and I admit it gets a good bit more than 540 when trying to throw over a 60ft wide shed.
Starting her off in 1000 is too savage, usually wind it up in 540 then do a change to 1000.
If we are on dodgy or oat straw I can have the 100hp on her knees no bother, so wouldn't want less.

The Teagle 8080 is 20 years old this year here the first 10 with a 165 then a 362 normally flat out, ,straw only but never needed any more power a pre cleaner on the air filter would be an advantage.

JD 2040 on a Lucas G and it struggles with oil flow, used to put 6420 on it occasionally and it was a different machine then, sadly couldn’t afford having a 20k tractor tied up to the straw blower 365.

For the JD on the back of the outlets there's a shimmed flow adjuster (I believe if its the same) to increase or decrease oil flow to implements. The actual pump itself has relatively good overhead, its just limited through the spool's.

Part the reason I bought a spreadable I knew I’d need another tractor as I’d get sick of changing implements , time you buy a blower then buy another tractor kind of get expensive way to bed cattle especially price of straw ££££££
