Nothing wrong with Hydra Shift. If it works as it should, and is not mistreated, it will do you well.

We've had them for many years, never had a major problem.

Really, that is true for most DB's. The Hydraulic system was intolerant of dirt. Hydra Shift less so, but cleanliness was still king.

Had a 1212 for many years and then a 1494 hydrashift and neither gave bother but if I were to need one re-building then I wouldn't want it done by a novice.

IH 74 series ( plus 84 & 85 etc ) were available with 4 different speed boxes.
The fastest 574s I've clocked at over 30mph with 12/38 wheels.

Mine is terrifyingly fast, to the point where I don't use it in top as it is the fastest thing on 4 (or often 3) wheels

We had about a million tractors trundle past us a few weeks back on a tractor run. Was a pleasure to watch. Mite join in with our reno next year if we still have it as i didn't see one on the run.


Or if speed is the name of the game i shall take the sprayranger. That will do 80k on rowcrops...
