Tractor Fuel tank vent?

My Kubota 9960 has a truly awful tank filling pipe with about 4 bends and tube restrictions, between the cap and tank, and as a result, it is a pig to fill up as the fuel swirling around stops air getting out and forms bubbles and splash backs. I think that it was fitted with the stupid pipe, because of the FEL frame!

In my view, the tank needs a breather on the top, possibly with a shut off valve, to allow air out when fuelling. So I am looking for some sort of self tapping device that can be screwed in the top of the plastic tank, without a major strip down job! A pemanently open fitting with a plpe running up under the bonnet would do nicely too.

Something like this but much bigger diameter, say 25mm?? :) https://easibleed.co.uk/pages/how-it-works

Any suggestions please?

I have looked at a reconfiguration of the pipe, or a new pipe, but there is not much room there...

Might be able to push one of these in, a drilled hole, from outside. Remove core and clamp a pipe to it?

Think some tanks have a spare outlet for a breather. Might be able to remove a small cover in floor of cab to get to fuel sender cover/pipes.

Like the idea of a tyre valve.... Not sure how long the rubber would last in a diesel environment! ;)

I'll have a look at the cab floor... I'd not thought of that one... I can see the sender etc squeezed on the top...

Could you manipulate a plastic pipe down the filler pipe and fix to the inside? As long as your filling nozzle goes down the side of it it should work fine.
That is what I tried initially, but all the bends made it effectively impossible :( It tended to spit out fuel, as I could not get the bottom end positioned on the top of the tank above the fuel.

Hence my wondering if I could get a hole drilled in the top and screw in a breather vent, possibly with a pipe raised up to prevent spills coming out.

Are you sure there is not a vent already but not working for sone reason? Many moons ago we had a new tractor delivered and we were a little concerned because it only held enough fuel for 3-4 hours. Turned out a manufacturing fault meant the second tank breather was blocked so fuel could not flow properly

the NH tm has a breather pipe for the fuel tank with a mushroom top thing up the back of the cab at the side of the lower window, not sure on pricing but could be a ready made system for you.

I cannot see one from the side of the tractor. The tank is under the cab on this tractor, so access to teh top is not great... I can see the sender etc but it's all a bit inaccessible! However, I will follow @JCB_JCR advice in the morning, and see if there is indeed an access point... 🤞

A breather would seem to make sense.... However, there are several little "quirks" on the tractor that make me think the bean counters as opposed to working engineers dictated some decisions. ;)
