Tractor Hire Cost

The OP wants it for unloading - which could surely be done at leisure and by hand, if trying to be canny with the cash. Last year we did small bales, we managed to fill a dutch barn - around 10,000 bales I think - by hand without anything beyond a simple sledge and a 31 grab.

Load unload makes no odds and possibly he’s on his own if there’s rain forecast then there’s no leisure time.

Once baled, a shower doesn't kill the hay that quickly.

Made plenty of hay an I know it’s best not to let it get wet once it’s baled and if he wants to sell them then need to be as good as possible.
I’ve had to many bad experiences with drying out damp bales taking the top layer off 48’s stacking them on there ends to dry then having bending bales to deal with.
Get them in a fast as possible .

Before Dad got the flat 8 system I remember the 17 -21 bale carries on the back of tractors we had 2 or 3 of them leading in then on the elevator into the shed .
We got one of the 1st flat 8 systems which was a mistake as it didn’t work very well.
My job was to ride the sled making sure the flap went over over each time and then making sure all the bales lined up and all on the flat.
