Very true actually will look into it to see what’s happening and see who would be interested , thanks
I understand your logic, but it is not the normal way to hire. It’s fairer is it not because the man has to pay a standard price and depending on how much he uses it it cost him more , what’s your thoughts?
Yes very true , if I could find someone Ik who would look after it would be idealI understand your logic, but it is not the normal way to hire.
Personally, there is no way I would ever hire my machinery out. Especially my tractor. A poor or rough opperator can do £10k of damage to a gearbox in half an hour. There is not enough money in the job that could persuade me to take that risk.
Yes ,thanks again I’m looking into it at the minute just to see margins thanks again for your helpI'd be forgetting what others charge... You need to know what it costs. Not what someone's told you or what you think but what it costs when it's stood still and what it costs to actually run. Then go from there.
8000+hr tractors are a lottery. I bought a 10,000hr MF 7490 about a year ago as an extra to keep on top of things and create backup. We know those tractors very well, hence know the weak points. We put 300hrs on it last year, to be able to assess whether or not it was a pup. Spent £4500 on it this last winter to make it right. Thanks very much for your response well appreciated ,I will have a look In too the dyna vt , I was looking at dyna 6 tractors with around 8000hrs Should they give much trouble after that ( engine gearbox wise for another while ?
well maintiance is the upkeep of the tractor and yes my plan is to go out and work this summer with and contractor then go to new zeland and when i come back have a go at it thanks again for your responce helps me alot
jesus that 6490 gave you awfull trouble heard they were like that alright yes will have a look into it didnt think the fendt gearboxes were so reliable will have a look, thanks again8000+hr tractors are a lottery. 6490 d6 cost me £28000 in repairs between 2400 (when it's warranty expired) and 7000hrs (when I decided enough was enough) which is collosal. Only thing the engine ailed was a water pump - the Sisu motor is superb.
6480 had about £6k spent on it between 2700&5700hrs. Injectors a weak (and expensive) point on a tier 3 Perkins. It's had 3rd gear synchros too.
In your shoes I'd be finding a tidy tier 2 mf 7490 or 95. Sisu motor. Fendt box. Very good value tractors.
have to start somewhere to get your name out do you notOnly read the first page of your idea about what work you will offer but all you listed and thought about seems to be the jobs that everyone else and their dog does, usually cheap just to keep the work and money turning over.
I’ve not read the rest of this but what happens when you have customers lined up and the family member wants to use HIS kit at the same time ? Or they have enough of you wearing their gear out before you’ve earnt enough to buy your own and put a stop to the borrowing malarkey?? If it was me I’d not be lending gear to do paidThe reason I want the bigger tractor is for bale carting because nobody will ask you to come 1 single simple as now I can get the loan of family member machinery ( slurry tanker topper agitator and a 20 ft trailer flat bed and a few other thing ) and I believe by offering my service around to tillage people also might be viable to making a small bit of profit
Also think of it from the customers point of view, will you want to bother with hiring a man that’s borrowing the kit?I’ve not read the rest of this but what happens when you have customers lined up and the family member wants to use HIS kit at the same time ? Tell me where my maths are wrong so please that’s why I’m asking for yer opionsSorry chap, your maths is way out. Give it a go if you want but you are going to be a busy fool buying work. Look at pony paddock maintenance, fencing, get good on a 360, anything but buying a tractor to work for nowt
ok fair enough i understand where your coiming from im still only in the thought process nothing is bought yet so im only thinking and having a look , thanks againYou are not paying yourself enough, not enough for fuel, insurance, repairs etc, and borrowing the implement you are going to use. Honestly you are way out and I hate to rain on your parade but one medium size breakdown or repair will finish you. I traded two 6000 hour tractors that I just could not afford to own anymore, one hit me with a 5k repair bill, followed by a 2k bill a month later.
New one on 5 years warranty and service, including fuel I know the cost per hour down to pence, if it doesn’t add up and I make money, I don’t do the job
