Tractor servicing costs

I can say that changing the rocker cover filter on a swb t7 is no easy task. If took 2 of us the best part of a day to do it. Everything around the rocker cover has to come off to enable the rocker cover to come out. You can really see where the hours dissappear to.
Is there a guide anywhere on how to change the rocker cover filter, got one to do this winter and want to do it ourselves

Were two people sent? When I had this service done the service manager said he would send one guy if I could supply someone competent to assist for the tricky bit to keep the cost down.

A 1200 hour service is a service carried out every 1200 hours, more work is done on a 1200 hour service than a 600 hour service.
Basically every other service is a more comprehensive service than the ones inbetween
It's all in the owners manual for a Valtra

That breather filter is in a canister outside the engine on a T6 tho,at least it is on our Maxxum,£21 from the dealer( only place I could get it!) and 5 minutes to fit.

It’s under the rocker cover on our Maxxum and they changed it a lot sooner than 3k hours.

They had to take the quick fit pipes out of the steering valve on top of the engine, which then blew out twice in the weeks following, soaking everything in oil.

And all it was was a sort of plastic widget thing which was perfectly clean.

I was advised to change mine at 1200 hours cos it was using engine oil, they all do that apparently 🤔

A main dealer not using manufacturer recommended oil?

When I worked at main dealer, IH & CaseIH, plus Claas, we stocked recommend oils as well as a less expensive ( still good quality ) oils.
Customers then had a choice of what they wanted to spend their hard earned cash on.
Provided the non manufacturer branded oils were of a good quality & within the recommended specs there is no problem using them.
It's much more important that the oil are changed on time using the correct spec oil than having a row of pretty branded oil drums.
It must be remembered that tractor manufacturers do not produce their own oils, they'll have the oils blended by oil producing companies & put I to branded drums, then they dream up a price for the oils !

Refreshingly honest approach.

Actually i did make a slight mistake it was £2200 the £400 bit was the vat never the less !!!
Wont be paying or buying anything else from them. Invoice attached
WOW. These "genuine" filters that are required for warranties amaze me. If the filters on your invoice were supplied as Donaldson, Fleetguard, HIFI etc, i'm sure they would be at least £350 cheaper than what you've paid.

But they are supplied by Donaldson etc. It's just they have a tractor manufacturers logo on them together with a hefty margin. They are perfectly genuine.
