Got the chance of a tractor , got spec sorted out but tyres seem a minefield , got the chance of Michelin 650/85r38 rear 600/70r28 which I presume can be deflated a lot or 710/70r42 rear 600/70r30 trelleborgs which can’t be deflated as much , tractor weighs around 9 and bit tons , what’s folks thoughts , thanks

It will be doing most things from road work to cultivation’s

The 85/38 is a bigger tyre than the 42’’, much greater air volume in sidewall, normaly much more money than 42’’s.

From what I’ve read on here and local farmers experience I would avoid the trelleborgs…

650/85 Michelin. You won’t have any problems. Will do almost everything you need at 15psi. But if you are prepared to adjust the pressure or keep the speed down you will be able to run them at 8psi and carry a decent amount of weight.

They do take a long time to inflate due to the volume. Would be worth fitting earth mover valves and buying an inflator to fit (£50 ish) if you want to alter the pressure often .

I don’t think you can beat Trellies for putting power to the ground but we have had a rear set start splitting - the fronts went on to do over 7500hours though.
If your mixing work and don’t want to be changing pressures all the time I think the Michelins will probably be your safest bet

What’s an earth mover valve?

Just a bigger valve. When you screw the bit out of the valve stem that has the valve inside it(to let the tyre down faster) an earth mover valve would be That size. Have a look at Haltec.com

Michelins are great on everything, except snow and ice. I'd fit a compressor to the tractor, if the pressure needs to be altered often.

I do like Trelleborgs, better all year round but the splitting sidewalls put me off some.

What difference in price, I assume Michelin tyres be more expensive?.... Trelleborgs from my experience are pea poor.

Seems odd that the front tyres are different height considering the rear tyres are the same diameter

Michelin's on my CVX 230 2000hrs 40% left however in a previous life it dragged a 20t digger around the Highlands at 35psi. Fronts would have 20% on them

As said earlier 85/38” is a taller Tyre then the 42”. The 38” looks lot better too. The only down side of the 85/38” is they have a deeper side wall which requires you to keep the tyres a little harder with heavy loads on. Friend has them on a 6195R and loves them.

No they aren’t. The rears are both the same height. The fronts are different
