looking at a John deere 2650 to buy for my Kv match plough, does anyone know if it is possible to get the rear wheels in to 56" centres on 13.6 r38 tyres? Used to have a ford 7610 which was tight but I fancy the John deere due to the cab position being a long way back. Thank you all in advance. Ed.

Ah, reversable is a different world, and the boards may move the slice more. One point, width of furrow ploughed has no bearing on the width of the open furrow, that is down to mouldboard "push". For example, my 12" hydrein special KV , with the boards in their "natural " position leaves a 11" open furrow, close to that left by a friends 7.5" hight cut plough.

12.4 would be better but I’ve squeezed my 13.6 into 56 centres on 2650 can just about get my finger between the cab and tires

Hi Ed,

I got my wheels down to 54" with 13.6 on my 40 series by putting spacers in between the dish and the rim - needed a steel strap to pull the fuel tank in and the inside of the tyres would just clear the cab. I will ask Clive Roberts what he managed to get his down to for you.

Hi Colin hope you are well, thank you for that I have bought the tractor so when I get it in the work shop will see what I can do, so long as the cab frame is narrow enough everything else should move if necessary. Am Looking forward to getting going again!

Thank you Willio that is just what I needed to hear! A fingers clearance should be just about enough in all but the wettest of conditions.

[emoji1362] just keep your eye on it if it’s shitty

Narrow enough that you don't have to drive away from the furrow wall on the 2nd to last run to avoid leaving 2 wheel marks. At 13" on 56" centres you have to drive 4" away, I got that down to 2" by pulling the wheels in. That is much easier. If you reduce to 12" furrows you are back up to 4" away.
If I had been carrying on I would have taken the grinder to my tyres to cut the outside of the cleats off so I could run against the furrow wall.
