Had one on demo and it was very good, my old man bought one but they had slightly redisgned the auger and paddle for some reason and spreading broiler litter with the door only parlty open the paddles couldnt push out enough so broke the shear pins, I suggested we took the paddles out for chicken litter but kidds said no bring it back to the factory and we will cut some bits off the auger flights, that sorted the chicken litter problem but created a flat edge which the shear pins werent strong enough to make it cut through strawy muck, luckily for me the old man retired soon after and I sold it

MF6170 - bought new in 97 - the most useless unreliable pile of monkey nuts we've ever had in the place......
.... closely followed by a 1991 JD 550 single stuffer baler that wouldn't start bales if it was dry, wet, long, short, or a day that ended in y, and if it did, it would break down, without fail. Horrible. Sold for a 1200 Quadrant.

Taarup single rotor rake wouldn't do 20ac without another rebuild.

We had a 6170 as well ,,its was too heavy, underpowered and gutless ,,couldn't fault for anything else though ,it was the premier model with dromone puh and the higher out put hydraulics ,never remember if that's open or closed center

MF 6150, has the first in the country and got to know all the mechanics at the dealers very well over the two years we had it.

There’s another thread running on here somewhere, tractors you wish you’d owned, we were pricing up a 3075, got side tracked with a 7740 on demo, only to find out orders weren’t being taken as a new range was coming out when we decided to stay with Massey.
Wish we’d bought a 3075, allthough a 7740 would have sufficed, anything other than the 6150 really.

We changed it at two years old at end of warranty for another that wasn’t quite as bad which we kept for 8 years, it was the most expensive Massey we’ve ever owned for repairs , infact it probably cost more in repairs than all the others combined.

+1 for MF6170 we had one too.

We had a 6180 too, bought s/h, long after the 70 departed. It was brilliant in every respect for 8yrs, til it caught fire on the road!
