i was brought up on an old fashioned cheshire farm we cut corn with a reaper binder grew roots and put them in a clamp milked short horns and had shire horses i remember hay on tripods and cocks most of the stuff on that film and its all nice and nostalgic but i will tell you something for nothing it was bloody hard work, but it was sustainable agriculture the big problem is no one wants the work:(
as a foot note we used to have the mobile mill to mill and mix the cattle feed until the operator said he would not bag the stuff off this same operator used to go to the gym three times a week to work out and body build o_O

You cannae make it up!
"Drive to the gym and get on the bike there, then crash the car on the way home texting.."

I heard a bloke say that recently and I thought "yep, that's the way it's all going"

There is just so much I don't see the sense in.
By the time we have electric vehicles and all the jazz it will be too late to save the people, ecosystems, water, food supply

In my opinion.

Th
One of the issues I see with agriculture especially in the northern hemisphere is: policy.

Look at the UKs agriculture acts, they are solely about food production, nothing else.

Farming should provide much much more than simply making food, I can think of about 20 other things that are pushed aside because of "u boats in the channel"
they are not solely about food production, they are about creating a fair society where everyone got to share in farming prosperity, not just landlords as had been the case before.

It's the way our species is headed :(
I was amazed when managing staff, just how lazy and soft some people have become - the only time the brain really clicked on was when it was home time, or how to save burning energy.
Now working smarter is a good goal, but backing your quad up the steps at your house, or riding it 25 yards to open a bungee gate....:scratchhead:
Always a big sigh if I suggested putting up a breakfence on foot... :banghead:
5 pork chops for breakfast and laughing about getting fat.

Hey ho, not my slotcar set
He had a big list of "can'ts"
