wasnt sure where to post this but here we are.

Some horrible herbert stole 6 silage bales from us a couple months. Im also starting a small diversification enterprise soon. Both are on off sites.

Wanted to put up a couple cameras to keep an eye on everything remotely.

Whats everyone using currently?

Cheers
Ross

Just be careful that they don t point onto other peoples property or you might get into trouble, privacy laws !!
The deer stalker on our estate put some up to monitor red deer opposite a house/garden and the kids from the house found it. Next thing he is getting verbal and written warnings re his job and apparently his employer has had to pay compensation to home owner to avoid court.

I know it's not use to you but we have one of those ring doorbells they are brilliant motion activated as well really good pictures but need to be in range of a router!

I bought a £40 one last year to see whether the cattle were using the pasture pump, it is very good and discrete como colour too.

We were discussing fitting it again - round the yard this time as we have had a suspected night visitor turning off water tanks and troughs which is very irksome considering we have to now check them all every morning.

You can knock up a pretty good version using a raspberry pi quite cheaply if you're that way inclined .There are various guides online although to get the best out of them you need to tweak the coding a little (which isn't a bad skill to learn anyway) . The best thing with doing it this way is you can pick the "packaging" and hence make it quite discrete (rat bait boxes are made for it and low lives don't think to trash them before they go shopping)

Bushnell ones are good, we've used them quite a lot but I don't know how much they are.

We might have one or two spare around the place at the moment if you want to borrow one for a week or so.

Is there a way of altering the time delay between sensing motion & starting recording? I've got a Acorn 5210 that just gets the end of whatever is walking past.

Same old load of tosh! Anything you see with your eye from your land or public land is legal to photograph apart from into places which have a reasonable expectation of privacy. That would be directly into an otherwise private back yard where no stranger's eyes are expected to see and an effort has been made to shield, into a living room, bedroom or bathroom. Otherwise photography in the UK follows the same rules as walking and looking.

Deer Stalker in above example must have positioned the camera in some sort of purvy way or on someone else's land to get into trouble. Certainly the mention of 'compensation' suggests that there was something more than red deer monitoring going on.
