I recently had a trailer stolen, it was locked but not hooked to a vehicle and in a field, should I claim of the farm insurance or a towing vehicle insurance?
Any one with experience of this willing to point me in right direction. I should say farm with one firm and vehicles with another so I want to approach it correctly
Thanks

usually anything that can be attached to tractor is covered, whether it is or not
Our machinery policy covers trailers of all sorts, other than horse boxes and caravans

Is it worthwhile claiming? The increase in premiums for the next 5 years of having to declare it vs the cost of a new trailer would seem to suggest that it is not worthwhile to me but maybe your situation is different?

Have look on ebay, found my stolen york artic trailer for sale 10 miles away and got it back............!

Hi if you have a vehicle policy then trailers and any thing that attaches will be covered by that policy - most policies cover trailer and attachments up to an individual amount of £100,000 and the NFU Mutual is £500,000. Hope that helps. It won't be on your farm policy unless you have specifically listed it on there which you ought not have done if you have a farm motor policy.
