I've been slowly refurbishing a T&F 5 ton drop sided trailer, between other countless jobs.
Anyway I'm up to the point where I need the wood for the floor and sides.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a decent supplier.
Just got the trailer back from my shot blaster/ painter.
Top job Stephen (y)

We supply Phenolic flooring locally for trailer floors in 18mm 24mm strong and lasts for years. Iroko would look the best. Speak to a lorry trailer manufacturer.

TRP. Which is the truck spares business owned by DAF i think. Got our last lot from there. Think it was kerueing.
Your trailer looks like a labour of love, is it for showing? If so what with?

I was given it,and I know why now!
Joking apart it belonged to a neighbour who works along side me now, I remember looking at it when it was new back in '78,thought it was a massive trailer as a kid.
Trouble is it stood outside a lot in its later life + full of horse muck which didn't do the poor thing any favours ,also it had been overloaded and it had twisted the frame to top things off.
So getting a new floor is not to much of a issue its the sides which are tongue and groove I'm having difficulty finding.
Its not for showing, getting new T&F decals made up just to finish it off.
It'll be put back to light duties as I've just broke the floor on my 4 ton Pettit trailer

Guessing hardwood t&g for the sides. Go to a timber joinery merchant. Not a general builders merchant. They do hardwood products more than general merchants. Local one to me will even Male it in house if need be from planks. Not cheap but mainly selling to joiners for high end projects. Jw timber if you get stuck.

Some jobs are best left to the stick welder.
Unless your using specific rods like low hydrogens, cast, 29/9's or the likes then you need a stick welder, after that they are just a pita, mig all the way.

I think your missing my point, the overhang of the unsupported hitch is what I'm on about, as a few others have understood.
I'd of cut all existence of the old hitch off and welded in the new eye closer to the end of the drawbar and put a new plate on the front of it.
Personally to me it spoils what otherwise looks to have been a decent refurb but I'm pedantic like that so no worries.

However , it's not my trailer and as Heathland says, it I'll do his job.

Well instead of going to Cereals I thought I'd get try and get the wood sorted.
I did manage to get a couple of quotes.

Holy sh*t ££££££££ should have gone to Cereals it would have been a lot cheaper day:greedy:

Now I know why they stopped doing wooden sided trailers.

Anyway it's all got to be specially planned and take about 3 weeks.

Hard wood is horrendously expensive! I’m just doing a stock trailer that I got cheap of someone and next door said scrap it!! Made me more determined than ever to do it so had all brakes sorted and bought wood then saw one for sale cheaper than what I’d just paid for wood!! Still not finished yet either!! If only I wasn’t such a stubborn sod and had just listened to my neighbour:banghead:

A small 3ton Wheatley I refurbed years ago with scaffold boards. Mixture of oil/creosote has kept them. Bolted to uprights so easy to remove. Obviously not grain tight.
