Sorry - but you sign up for that so lets not get into that defence mechanism.

You are supposed to uphold the law no matter what the situation - with backup if dealing with a crowd or Riot Police / Armed Response!!

Unfortunately, one of the biggest issues with the Police these days, is there are far too many Oompa Loompas in the service and Specials that could't even catch a cold.
And you base this on experience? On what exactly? Have you been through recruitment process? Have you actually met and spoken to a police person lately?

There will be a backlash to the lack of policing soon.
It was on the news today that most people feel the police force now isn't fit for purpose. Policing the country is a basic of a civilised country surely.
I totallly disagree. Our population has zero respect for authority. Parents complain at schools that discipline children. People complain at police that catch you for speeding ( breaking the law) yet moan people speed through their village..... we all need to take a back step and actually be honest. You break the law you break the law. Yes certain groups get away with more but that’s no reason to have this hatred for our police. Is the heat affecting you all? All I said was my brother is a police office and I worry about him. You all seem to have read words I didn’t actually write that say he is a wimp and only in it for the money. He actually took a rather large pay cut to do it as he wants to help his community. Something I think some of the posters on this thread need to think about! . Sorry but I’m out! This is truly the bad side of farming where we have to be worse off than our neighbour and more hard done by!

thousands of police involved looking after a peaceful D Trump, so why when police decide to sort out a travellers camp do they not bring in the numbers of police to overwhelm them

I have total respect for the police and don't blame them for the situation they have been put in. With increased population we need increased police presence. But the police have been cut to a very low level and they have no choice but to prioritise their response. At the moment 95% of crime isn't resolved. That's pretty appalling.
And magistrates need to take responsibility a d start dishing out proper punishment.

Years ago a stolen Fiesta, I think ended up on a travellers camp outside Farnham. The owner was tipped off by a neighbour who had spotted the car and reported to Surrey Police. Nothing happened and the local press got involved. The inspector at the time stated he was undermanned for the recovery of the vehicle as the safety of his officers was his his prime concern. According to the local BBC radio, Surrey Police had one of the worst detection rates in a relatively low crime area. Had a couple of dealings with them (as a victim) and wouldn't trust half a dozen of their finest to man a pedestrian crossing.

Had that near here with a telehandler. Everyone knew where it had gone, police included. They even tried to sell it back and advertised tree cutting. The police never had the balls to recover it but did have the gumption to turn up in the chaps yard to ‘advise him on security’. I think they got sent away with a few F’s and C’s in their ear.

I have respect for the police. They can catch you doing 5 mile over. I had a few machines burned out one time the police asked if we catch the criminals do you want to press charges. They had more interest in the local chippy than my problem. Removed illegal stuff from an area one time under a police escort in the middle of the night. A while later the cops watched them rebuild new stuff in the same place again

Travellers are beyond control here.
They are carrying out robberies, illegally occupying private property, driving untaxed and uninsured vehicles and intimidating farmers and village residents for years.
The Cops won't tackle them on anything.
There has been 2 murders in the area in 18 months between the travellers and their associates , everyone knows whos responsible but the cops are keeping out of it!

|Ok, ill admit i'm biased as my brother is a policeman. He also has a family so i am bloody glad he doesnt have to tackle pikies everyday. They think nothing of knifing. He has been stabbed twice (both times in the stab vest)
Id like to see some of the posters on here face a rabble of 20-30 somethings in full anger.... Its very easy to say the police are scared. Crime isnt like it used to be. Brother is happy to get in a scuffle but the days of scuffles are now knives and guns... would you fancy telling his wife and children he isnt coming home because he was ''hard'' and took on a pikie....
The police should be backed up by the army, as soon as they feel threatened army in shoot too kill if need be kick the absolute sh!t out of them , only have to do it once or twice and the coppers would regain respect scum respect violence nothing else.
