Travelling, US, NZ, Aus

Hi everyone, so in September my fiancée and I are going to see the big wide world. We are setting off to America on 18th September starting off in Florida where we are having a 10 day break with was has now added up to 26 of her family members all gathering at Disney.
On our travels we would like to look around as many farms as we can mainly when I nz. We will be most like to be able to see farms in Texas and California. If anyone is willing to show us around or knows of anywhere to look whilst there please let me know. Due to the cost of a working visa we will be traveling on a holiday visa so can’t officially work but willing to give a hand in exchange for showing us around.
We are then going on to New Zealand flying into Auckland to start with. The aim is to travel down the country working on our way down. I’m a dairy farmer but would like to see as much as I can whilst there. My main focus is to milk in a range of different parlours and see how grass is managed out there. In New Zealand we are getting a working holiday visa so if anyone needs workers from around the start of November let us know please. The aim in to travel down the country working and hopefully seeing as much as we can along the way. I have considered signing up to a relief Milker kind of agency to pick up work as we move and keep it flexible.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know

Pictures will be posted on our way around

Once you hit Santa Monica beach, farm visits and work, will and should be the last thing on your mind. The lifestyle in LA is just a joy, weather helps a great deal.

You need to be on Twitter, you will be inundated with offers especially in NZ.

Thanks for the replies, my partner is on twitter so that will help. I do hope to be able to relax so if the time whilst out there don’t worry. Thank you for the offer of Missouri, I’m not sure how far that is from where we will be but we will keep it in mind.

Know plenty of big farms in Florida, Cali, Idaho.

Know a few farms in Aus but nothing in NZ. Don’t get too bogged down in work if you can afford to explore and travel

Enjoy your travels. It really opened my eyes and gave me a different outlook in life altogether. I discovered Asia and never really left.

This place https://dakindairyfarms.com/ is 1.5 hrs from Disney World. I visited with the family when on Holiday in 2012. It's close to Sarasota on the west coast of Florida. Booked on the farm tour and told the cashier I was a dairy farmer so after the tour she took me to see one of the owners and the Herdsman. The guide was quite amusing, she had an answer for every question but not necessarily the correct one!
Florida is to hot and humid for dairy cows really. The farm dropped 3 times a day milking for the hottest three months in summer. I could see cows suffering from heat stress and I was there in February!

Flick us a message if your passing through the waikato. Happy to show you around.
Thank you for the offer I hope to get to this area so would love to take up the offer. I will message you when I am out there.
When you get to Aus I'll show you how to milk in stinking bloody heat with no grass.........you'll love it.....
I’ll be honest I would be interested to learn after this last few weeks here how you do it. We’ve been short of grass and about 35 degrees in the parlour with unbelievable amounts of flies. Where are you based?

Southern Riverina of NSW , 3hrs directly north of Melbourne. We only have grass for 6 months of the year. Although this coming season is going to test everyone . Looks like another year here with no irrigation water....

Few pics taken from the bus window from Auckland to the bay of island in north NZ. Some poor quality but is what it is, should have bought a go pro beige I left.

Certainly warm up there @HasthorpeGrange, I've just flown back from Rotorua to find it's just as warm down here.
Very yellow sky from the Aussie fires/dust as well.

How are you liking it so far, and are you headed this far south? Feel free to call in/stay for the night if you are. (y)

I’m am in Rotorua at the minute got here this morning. The views are unbelievable, never seen so many cows. Doing the kiwi experience bus and the driver is from Dunedin and said it’s a fantastic place and I’ve just suggested to the mrs we stop off there for two weeks to work. It would be great to come by your place. I’ve seen a lot of yours posts and am very interested to see what you do. A lot of land I have seen so far has been scalped on the slopes which from what I gather would be your worst nightmare. Thank you for the offer
