I have a lot of tree coppicing coming up in Mid Tier….. we have a Doosan solar 7.5. What is the realistic diameter of timber a machine like this will cope with ?
Digger will be there anyway for fencing……
Haven’t used a shear so some experience would be welcome.

My 8t that tree is over 300mm at the bottom and would be at least 35ft to the tip. And it's no bother but get a decent shear don't scrimp on budget as we found out the hard way you get what you pay for.

Any recommendations for a shear make ?
We are thinking of getting one too ??
There's a whole thread on here about it from the beginning of the year .

We bought a JB equipment 300 and it struggled with anything over 150mm .

Ended up spending 2k more on an OMEF 300 and it'll cut 300mm easy biggest softwood I'll have done will be nearer 400mm with a couple of bites at it

This a TMK on a 7.5t TB175.

I think it's a TMK300 so will handle 300mm softwood.

This is copicing for an HLS agreement, that hedge is now teeming with wildlife.
