What model have you and what machine are you running it on?

I live an hour away from the MDE guys.

Hi, I’m looking at shears to fit a jcb js130 (15 tonne model). I like the look of the designs that would act well as a grab with the blade removed like the JB type. However I gather there’s a shortfall in their cutting ability compared to the designs like tmk. I want to be able to cut near on 300 mm diameter but also use the shear to grab and move the brash when clearing up. I have some hardwood to get through.. Has anyone got a bucket warehouse shear or a JAK300? How are they performing? Would a tmk 300 work well as a grab or is it awkward? Many thanks for any advice.

You can get a grab/grapple for reasonable money now or get a thumb put on.

I wouldn't loose cutting capability now for that.

I have a muck grab on the 13T for brash and should soon have a grab/grapple for the 5T machine for saving manpower clearing up timber behind. The amount of good burnable (log burner) timber you generate from a tree shear is huge.

Railway near us cleared their trees from beside the lines, they used a tree shear, we had some of the wood but the big bits that they sheared are useless for firewood as it splits the trunks from top to bottom.
good to watch though and ok for kinderling!

Just use the loading shovel and push into big heaps and burn it as we go, just pull any big limbs and use them for the butner but the rest goes up before the grass grows through it
