Tri Axle v Twin Axle

Thinking about changing our Livestock trailer. We currently have a Gamic 10 ft twin axle and are considering moving up to a 12 ft .There is a choice of twin or tri axle and i was wondering what people's thoughts are.Would the tri axle have less wear and tear on the tyre in general work but scuff it more turning sharply ?Is the tri smoother on the road ? Thoughts.
Ps I know this is a sort of machinery question but it is a livestock trailer so thought i would post in this section.

Depends really if its the wheels outsidecor underneath? If its the latter the more wheels the better
Currently have wheels underneath. How much extra weight is the tri axle ? Suprised the tri would take more pulling, extra friction on the ground i suppose.Would tyre wear be less on the tri ? Thanks.

Putting the legality to one side for a moment, a tri axle 14 ft trailer is a country mile ahead of anything else as far as practicality is concerned. As @joe soapy says above, two quads or a quad and a couple of cattle/few sheep. Three cows and three calves with plenty of space. Stick it behind a 50 kmh tractor with six finished beasts inside and you can just fly along...

The only downside with a tri axle as far as I can see is slightly higher tyre wear due to scrubbing etc.

I was looking at it the other way round...

14' trailer (wheels outside) twin axle. I reckon with sheep it'd be fine. Easier towed, less wear and looking at the specs sheet can carry the most weight legally

As for the op - 12' twin axle is grand. Don't need 3 axles on that trailer.

You are going to get loads of opinions on this question just like which bull which tractor or which is better sp or trailed
3axles are slightly heavier but you have better braking/handling the needs more pulling ive never found that but heavier will use more fuel and on tight turns you may feel it. The bit about tyre wear isn't going to effect most users as those f**king useless maximiller tyres wont last long enough to wear out the bigger wheels are better as for wheels on the outside or inside well that's another hornets nest :)

Good points, still can't make my mind up as which to go for. Will order with wheels underneath and was wondering which are the best quality tyres on the market.I think tyre quality is ,perhaps, more important than twin or tri axle.

I've just got some tyres for mine as I've had a gut full of those 195/60x13's maximiller's but I can't remember what I went for in the end but they have a stronger sidewall

These are the ones fitted to our Gamic trailer. They are very tough.
