If you save all the data from your screen to a memory stick you can then just open it up on your computer and look through and edit your fields

I have used OpenOffice in the past to edit the .dbf files. It is a free download.Some more details would probably be helpful. I doubt the above works on any computer (Windows, Linux, Mac OS) without any additional tools unless you are looking at the binary data with a notepad and have better than average skills interpreting that data.
Are you perhaps using Farmworks or some similar software? Free or paid version?
